Catching up time

Ok so im trying to finally do some catching up on my blog.
I have just had so much stuff going on in my  life recently that I really havent had a good chance to blog.

one of the most exciting things i did recently was go to Knysna to Ile de pain to do a bread making course.
shees it was hectic! the first day (sunday) we did theory the whole day. I know right.
Theory for a whole day? it was pretty intense, some of it went right over my head but I think i did pretty well with it. Its quite hectic to make "artisan" breads. I found out that temperature is super important.
they keep taking the temperature of the air, the flour and the dough. Who knew???
I certainly did not.
At the end of the first day we got to start making out own bread. We mixed everything in and had to fold it all a correct way by hand. it was quite fun but pretty messy.

on the monday all the hard work started. so much folding and kneeding and temperature taking. it was super fun though! i absolutely loved it! i really enjoyed physically making all the breads by hand.
here are some pics to make u all jealous.

VDJ LOVE!!!!!!

Ok first off i have to say OH my god my sister won the Vodacom Durban July ypung designers competition!!!!! How seriously kewl is that???
Its so so incredably awesome am i am so seriously proud of her!
Her name is Tamara Cherie Dyson and she's going places!
Here is her winning design
Freaking awesome!!!!!

How gorgeous is this back?

a close up

My mummsy and I:)

My super stylish parentals:)

Ok so now that i have totally gushed about my fabulously talented sis, i'll tell u about the rest of the Durban July.
I had an awesome time! Other than being absolutely thrilled for my sis, we were in the Sharks tent which was pretty amazing! Lets just say free food and free cocktails:) I totally lost count of how many rose petal martinis i had( they were too delicious for words)
Also did some "celeb" spotting:) I say "celeb" because I dont really believe that this country has any real celebrities. I saw some Sharks, obviously in our tent, Marius Roberts - that mnet guy. I also stood next to Jeannie D from top Billing and who know who else I missed.
After the one race i was walking along the side of the track when this black woman walked next to me and i thought oh u look quite fancy, when all of a sudden two HUGE guys (whom i came to realise afterwards were her bodyguards) pushed me completely out of the way and pushed her past me. I was just about to start shouting a few expletives when i realised that they looked kinda fierce so i better not. But anywhoo the point of my story is that it turns out she was the newest "mrs jacob zuma" how random??? I was still super not impressed with her bodyguards and even more so as im not exactly zumas biggest fan - of his or his, how many wives is it now? 5? 8? 10? Have no idea, but all i know is that they are just adding to the crumbling of our society.

Ok enough about politics! Onto the horses! My mom and I each placed some bets. Now both of us dont have a clue about horses or betting so we just chose the names we liked best. We got everyone to bet on number 13 for the last race coz she was called Queen Tamara. Sadly she did not place but we still all had fun. I did win on one of my horses though:) I bet R50 and I won R125. Was super stoked about my winnings as i kept calling it:)
I also won another prize during the day, a night or maybe two im not sure at some hotel in durban.

ok so i think that is enough from me for now.
Ciao

Wow!
I cant believe how long I havent posted for! I have been away three times since I last posted!
First off my mom and I went to the Good food and wine show in Cape Town. We had such an amazing time! Got to see some really talented chefs. I will post those pics soon.

Then my parents and I went off to St Francis for a couple of days to just relax and chill. It was sooo nice to just do nothing. My mummsy and i took some scrapping and we did a few things. She did alot more than me coz i wasnt really feeling that inspired, but I did watch quite a few dvd's which I never get to do so that was nice. Didnt really take any pics when we were there but i did stop by the road to takew some of these gorgeous cows. Cows? u say? Yeah I had seen the new doodlebugs farm range and i really wanted to do a layout with those papers so i thought it was perfect:)

Then last weekend I went up to Knysna on my own to attend a bread course at Ile de Pain. I absolutely loved it! It was seriously hectic thought. Super technical, but I really enjoyed it. Will def post those pics soon:)

Enjoy ur day my lovlies:)

Good Food and Wine Show

So I am so totally stoked coz I just booked my tickets for the Good Food and Wine Show! I am so super excited! My mom and I went last year and I had an absolutely amazing time. I really wanted to go this year but I couldnt really afford to go so I was pretty bummed, but then my dad surprised me and said he would sponsor my mom and I to go! Yay for us!!! I am so excited!

Last year I got to see Gordon Ramsey which was awesome! He is kinda one of my idols so it was so great to meet him in person. I also met Giorgio Locotelli and he was absolutely great. So gracious and unassuming. He took alot of time to talk to me which was awesome. I met quite a few celebrity chefs which was awesome!

I had so much fun, my mom and I decorated a cupcake at a kiddies stand which was fun:) I even did a cocktail course:)

This year there are two amazing chefs to wow us.
The awesome Heston Blumenthal and James Martin.
The amazing Heston Blumenthal! Cant wait to see what he conjours up:)

The gorgeous James Martin:)
Im also going to see Jeremy and Jackie Mansfield which is pretty exciting as well:)
Then I think this will be my favourite stand:)
The Lindt theatre:)

So I cant wait:)

Top 5 for week 21

So for the first week of my top fives I've decided to choose scrapbooking supplies. These are some of my fav new ranges we have in the shop.

First up we have Simple Stories. They're a new range in SA and it is fabulous!
This is the Life Documented range which I am totally in love with! We haven't even had it out for four days and its practically sold out already!

Next up is Graphic 45

This is the new Le Cirque range. It is absolutely stunning. A real vintage feel. It reminds me of the old school carnivals that you see in the movies. I really wanna scrap with it but I cant think of any photos that I have that would go with the theme.

Next is Echo Park
This is the new Be Mine collection from Echo Park. I absolutely love this Paris love theme. Sadly I have no love to use it for at the moment but hopefully one day I can put it to good use.

Second last we have the new Kaiser Craft
This is the new Party Animals collection. I absolutely adore the little animals! I can definately see myself cutting out all the little pics. Too cute for words!

Lastly is Pink Paislee

This is the Daily Junque range from Pink Paisley. I am totally in love with this range! I have so many ideas for it but I just haven't had a chance yet. I love all the vintage tickets and ephemera. Its just so gorgeous!

I'm gonna try keep my Top 5 list up every week and try and do a scrapping list at least once a month. If you have any suggestions for my lists then let me know.

Convention at Spier

So I thought I would finally get around to blogging about the scrapping convention at Spier three weeks ago. My mom and I went up and had a FABULOUS time! It was only one day this time, the two day one is in September - cant wait! We had two famous american teachers.

First up was Margie Romney-Aslett. We first did a double page layout using her absolutely stunning products. We used some new Ranger products which was pretty kewl. We used some of my new favourite products- doilies, crepe paper and tulle. Love it!

Then we did a beautiful single page layout. I've finished that one and its up in the shop. I will take a pic of it and post it next week for you all too see.

After that we made the most fabulously divine mini pennant album! So absolutely gorgeous! I havent finished that yet- surprise surprise, but I know exactly what pics im gonna use so hopefully i can do it this week.

Lunch time was absolutely fabulous - and im not just talking about the food:) Margie came and asked if she could come and sit with my mom and I. I was like "hell yeah" it was fabulous! She is such a down to earth person. No airs and graces. Just a simple beautiful girl. She really made my mom and I feel so proud. It was the best time ever, seeing as she is one of my idols. She is so super talented. I absolutely love everything she does! I must say there were quite a few jealous ladies at lunch that day:)

After lunch we had our Tim Holtz class. Now im not the biggest fan of his stuff - I love what he does, i just dont think i could do that everytime i scrap. We made an art journal. It was quite fun to do, but just super messy and I have a bit of ocd when it comes to dirty hands. I havent quite finished it but i will take some pics next week so ya'll can see.

All in all we had a fantastic time and I really cant wait for September when its the next convention:)
Lunch with Margie

Tim Holtz
Fun with Candice Greenway

Hope ya'll have a fabulous long weekend:)

Wedding watch party

First up I need to apologise for being away for soooo long. First up we went to Cape Town for convention for a couple of days which was awesome, and then when we got home I ended up in bed, sick with bronchitas for almost two weeks! It really sucked. But Im now on the mend and I definately couldnt miss the event of the year. The Royal Wedding!

Been planning for ages for this. Was hoping to have my shop open but alas twas not to happen yet. We decided to decorate my shop up for it. Brought a tv to work and stayed up last last night making scones, cupcakes and sandwiches.

We had an absolute ball watching it today. We all dressed up smartly and we bought cheap plastic tiaras which we then decorated which was so much fun:) I loved watching it but was very disapointed in the kisses. Wish there had been more of an emotional one.

Anyway, first up, did u not just love her dress? I absolutely adored it! was so beautiful and elegent. Very much reminded me of Grace Kelly.
She looked absolutely stunning! So elegant. My bets were on that she wore a long lace sleeved dress and I was right:)
The second most beautiful girl there was her sister, Philippa Middleton. She wore an absolutely stunning dress, which I must say surprised me to be white aswell.

She could have been the bride in that beautiful dress:)

I also loved seeing Harry in the carriage with the little flowergirls. Was just too cute for words:)

Just look at that cheeky grin:)

Last but not least ......the kiss.....

And the second kiss.....

Lovely:)

I really wish we could have seen the receptions though. I cant wait to see some pics of that:)
Here are some pics of our wedding watch party:)

Ok so there u have it, hopefully I'll post some pics etc from our Cape Town trip and of our finished tiara's:)
Have a great evening:)

Mummenschanz

On saturday my mom and I went to see this show. It was kinda weird, kinda brilliant and kinda boring all at the same time. What they did was brilliant. But there was no sound. Absolutely no sound. I kinda wanted to die at one point. There wasnt even music. I dunno, maybe im just not smart enough to appreciate that kind of "art"?
